Introduction to Concepts and Controversy (Presentation)
March 7th 2-3pm Room 306 Hamilton Library
This first meeting will be a presentation and discussion of various approaches to text mining. We will review a variety of popular and research uses for text mining tools. Starting with the visionary thinking of Kurt Vonnegut and working our way to the controversial sentiment analysis of the Syuzhet Package, we will address the possibilities and risks of text mining through case studies and the latest theories grounding the discipline.
